Dry eyes are described as decreased tear production or increased evaporation.
A decreased tear production could infer that a person is holding in their emotions and not expressing them; not allowing their feelings to flow.
Evaporation occurs from the surface of a liquid. So that could connect dry eyes to a superficial level of dealing with something that is causing grief; expressing insincere emotions, or not being prepared to delve too deeply into the situation at hand.
Dry eyes could also infer that a person has run out of tears, cried too much, no energy left or exhausted.
