Q…. What are your thoughts on the prostate, prostate cancer and radical prostatectomy?
Sickness is a complex web of inter-related issues on many levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Even if a person understands the metaphysical connection and message of a symptom and disease, there may also be other contributing factors, such as outdated thought and belief patterns, unacknowledged emotions and the spiritual dimension. All of these need addressing in some way.
Physical level:
The prostate is a small gland that sits below the bladder near the rectum. It surrounds the urethra, the passage through which urine and semen pass. It is part of the male reproductive system, and produces most of the fluid that makes up semen. It readily strangles the urethra.
A metaphysical interpretation:
My creativity flows freely. I feel chocked, strangled, cut off. My sexual expression is shutting down.
Cancer is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body.
A metaphysical interpretation:
The cell has lost its sense of identity. It doesn’t know who it is, and where it belongs
Urethra
The urethra is the passageway that certain fluids take to leave the body. Fluids, being similar to water, are associated with emotions.
When the enlarged prostate or tumour strangles the urethra, the urinary system must also be considered. This system clears the body of waste, regulates the amount of water and balances the components in the blood. It knows exactly how much to keep and reuse, and how much to let go. It knows what is of further use and can be re-cycled, and what is exhausted and reached its use-by date.
The metaphysical connection to the urinary system is about making difficult decisions, re-cycling and being of no further use. Older men facing retirement or redundancy, who feel they have reached their use-by date, and have nothing more to offer can have problems with this system. When employment ends and a person feels they can no longer be creative or of use, this system can be affected.
When you connect the basic metaphysical concept of cancer to where it shows up in the body, you could find the issues that your sense of self, purpose and identity are connected to or depend upon.
Summary prostate cancer:
My sense of self, purpose and identity are connected in some way to something that has been cut off, restricted or constrained.
My sexual performance has diminished; my manhood is challenged
I reached retirement age and had to leave work, but I am not ready to go
I am told I have reached my use-by date, yet I feel in the prime of life
My creative expression is being stifled and constrained, so I will have to find another outlet
I am no longer free to express myself
I contained my emotions, and didn’t show them
My sense of purpose has been taken away from me
My identity was connected to what I did for a living
My sense of self comes from what I do, not who I am
Radical prostatectomy
At optimum efficiency, the body is programmed to heal itself, but many bodies don’t function at that level, so there are times when a person may need ‘outside help’ to get the healing process started. Some symptoms can take years to show themselves, and only become obvious in the last stages of a serious or terminal disease, when time is running short and life expectancy limited. On the other hand, aggressive symptoms may cause severe damage before the body has time to repair itself without external intervention.
Some diseases reach a point where they need pharmaceuticals or a medical procedure of some sort to contain or reverse them, so that the body can begin the natural healing process.
I’ve seen clients refuse medical procedures for various reasons:
They believe that they can heal naturally through a change of diet and lifestyle
The body is better to have a diseased organ that doesn’t work, rather than have no organ at all
On a spiritual level they feel they are a failure if they cannot use their mind to heal naturally
They fear hospital and medical intervention, and want to get better without having to face that particular challenge
An holistic approach to healing would also address the disease on other levels.
Mental level:
Is there a strong family belief that prostate cancer runs in the family?
What a person thinks about, with emotion, they will create.
A client once told me that he knew everything would go downhill once he left work, and it did.
Could these be self-creating thought patterns that unconsciously create themselves?
Emotional level:
Does a person wallow in negative feelings, rather than use them to be directed to the issues that need addressing.
E=mc2 explains that energy and matter are interchangeable. If a person deals with an issue on an emotional level, it may not need to change into solid matter to have a greater impact.
When something is compressed, it becomes denser, and more difficult to deal with.
Spiritual level:
I am not a victim of anyone or anything. Nothing happens to me unless I agree to it on some level of my consciousness. I create, allow or draw to myself my circumstances so that I can learn and evolve. If we only consider our circumstances from a physical perspective, then life can be cruel and difficult, but there is always a bigger picture which may not be initially obvious.
