Psoriasis indicates wanting to by-pass the normal process of a given situation, and get to the end result sooner. It doesn’t want to go through each stage, step by step. It’s in a hurry. It doesn’t want to give each stage of a process/situation the time it needs to fully develop. It wants results, without doing what it takes to get there.
The simple explanation of psoriasis is that the skin cells multiply faster than normal, and cause a build-up of dead cells on the surface of the skin. The normal process for skin to renew itself is about 30 days. With psoriasis the whole process takes less than a week. The fact that the process is about four times faster than normal, doesn’t allow the dead cells to remove themselves before the next ones arrive.
Are you a person who doesn’t clean up and finish off something properly before you begin something else?
Do you get so far ahead of yourself that you need to slow down?
Do you refuse to conform and insist on doing things differently?
Are you someone who won’t keep the rules, and wants to take short-cuts which don’t always work?
Anything to do with the skin (integumentary system) is related to boundaries, being stretched, out of your comfort zone or being on show. This can bring up issues related to lack of self-esteem, comparing yourself to another or self-criticism.
The exact cause of psoriasis is said to be unknown, but it is believed that several factors combine to contribute to this condition. The other factors involved need not necessarily be of a physical nature. They could include an imbalance on the emotional, spiritual or intellectual levels. Approaching your condition from multiple perspectives could take you out of your comfort zone, but at the same time, open other areas of your life that need to be addressed.
Many symptoms reach a point where they need medical intervention or pharmaceuticals in some form. Sometimes you may need some ‘outside help’ to get the healing process started. Sometimes the body has taken years to get to the state it is in. A realistic approach to healing is to address it from many levels, not just one.
