The second toe is related to the element of air. Air expresses how you think and analyze, and forms the basis of how you communicate. It describes intellect, logic and the ability to live in the mind.
Raging air can destroy everything in its path, and is best avoided; whereas a gentle breeze is usually refreshing and welcome.
Therefore pain and discomfort associated with the second toe could be related to issues such as:
How you interpret information
How you communicate with others
Speaking your truth
Hiding what you really want to say
Outdated thought patterns
Critical and negative thinking
Forcing your ideas upon someone
Logic and intellect
Need to understand
Need to interact with others, be chatty, collect information, gossip
If there is a blister on this toe, it could mean that there is pressure from an outside source regarding your thoughts on a particular subject, or pressure to change your thinking about something. It could also be about pressure to put your ideas forward.
If there is a bone problem with the second toe, attention could be drawn to restructuring how you analyze information, and subsequently communicate that to others. Your beliefs, which are your basic infrastructure, your inner strength, may have collapsed. Or, they may need to be changed. You may need to communicate with someone regarding how to structure your life and your boundaries. Life without structure or form can be chaotic.
Hammer, mallet or claw toes are associated with joint problems. Joints are part of the skeletal system and reflect flexibility. So if this toe is stiff, locked, or fixed in place, you might need to consider how flexible you are when it comes to changing your mind, listening to others, taking advice, letting go of outdated thought patterns, or opening to new ideas.
A second toe, bent over at the top joint, may not be willing to share and communicate authentic and original ideas. When all the toes are bent over (claw), they could be shutting down their potential.
